A new year…. a new adventure! 2020 is going to be an exciting year. Home is where the Army sends us, and back to Ft. Campbell we go. I am going to miss NC so so much. I have LOVED being close to family, and I have made some amazing friends that I will cherish forever. We have made so many memories in NC but I am excited for the new adventures that await us in TN.
Veterans Day means a lot more to me than just a day off of work. I have been a military wife for 6 years. It can be hard. When Patrick is away, I am a single mom to two little boys with no family close by. I don’t know when I will hear from him or where he is. But at the same time, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am so proud of what he does and how much he loves this country.
As a military wife, I have seen too much of what our veterans and their families go through. Christmases and birthdays missed, memories of deployments that can not be erased, and teammates that have become their best friends lost forever. And although they will mourn it in their own quiet way, they still go out and fight for the country they love.
So next time you think about kneeling for the anthem, complaining about how you need a “safe space” or “trigger warning”, or burning the flag, remember all of those that are away from their families, fighting for YOU.
We will teach our sons to say the pledge, stand for the anthem, and always have respect for this great country we are so blessed to live in.
God Bless America and God Bless our Troops!
Happy Veterans Day!
Dear Nash Bear,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are three years old today. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since you made me a mom. I feel like I just gave birth to you yesterday. Your personality shines through more and more every day, and I am in awe of the little human you are becoming.
I never want to forget the way you say Mommy and run to give me hugs and kisses. You are the sweetest little boy. I love the way you always want to show me your “Hulk” muscles and Ninja Turtle moves. I love the way you look after your “baby Chase”.
I’m sad that you’re growing up so fast, but I am also loving watching you grow up. I know you will do great things! If you touch one person with your sweet personality and winning smile… my work here is done.
I love you to the moon and back! Happy Birthday!
I am obsessed with Christmas🎄 Today was a snow day in NC ❄️☃️ So we spent our day dancing to Christmas music and baking delicious cookies. Here are a couple of my favorite recipes that are super easy to make with little ones. Enjoy!! Merry Christmas 😘
Peanut Butter Kiss Cookie
• Peanut Butter
• Brown Sugar
• 1 Egg
• Baking Soda
• 24 Hershey Kisses (unwrapped)
1 Preheat oven to 350.
2 Cream together peanut butter, butter, sugar and brown sugar until smooth.
3 Add egg and vanilla and beat together.
4 Whisk together flour, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl.
5 Slowly add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, beating until incorporated.
6 Roll into 24 1″ balls and place on cookie sheet several inches apart.
7 Gently make an indentation in the center of each cookie.
7 Bake 12-14 minutes.
8. Place a Hershey Kiss in the center of each cookie.
Chocolate Cloud Cookies
• 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup butter – room temperature
• 4 large eggs
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/2 tsp table salt
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1 Combine cocoa, granulated sugar & butter in a mixing bowl & beat together on medium speed. Reduce the speed to low & add eggs mixing until just combined.
2 Mix in vanilla, salt, baking powder & then flour until well incorporated.
3 Cover the bowl with plastic wrap & chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
4 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
5 Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
6 Roll the dough into 1-inch balls & coat with confectioners sugar.
7 Place on the prepared baking sheet at least 2 inches apart.
8 Bake for 10 minutes.
9 Allow the cookies to cool on sheet for one minute before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Christmas Funfetti Sugar Cookies
1 box (18.25 oz) vanilla/white cake mix, such as Duncan Hines
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 large eggs
1/3 cup vegetable/canola oil or melted coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sprinkles
1 Preheat oven to 350F. Line large baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat. Set aside.
2 In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix and baking powder. Set aside. In a smaller bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, and vanilla by hand. Add the egg mixture to the cake mixture and stir to form a dough- stir vigorously until all of the pockets of dry cake mix are gone. Gently mix in the sprinkles – you do not want to dye the cookie dough by overstirring the sprinkles.
3 Drop rounded 1-inch balls of dough onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 9 minutes – do not let the cookies get brown. Allow to cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes; they will be very soft at first. As they cool, the tops will settle down so you will not have to press the cookies down yourself. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Hey yall! So I’ve gotten messages asking what makeup products I use. In this video I show my current favorite products. Please let me know what your favorite products are. I love changing it up! 😘 xoxo
Wow! It has been a whole year! One year of holding you, kissing you, cuddling you, feeding you, changing your diaper, watching you grow. I remember every moment of the day you were born. I had been having contractions for days but your dad was out of town for work. The night he got back, the contractions were getting stronger. In the morning, I decided to go get checked at the hospital while your grandparents were in town to watch Nash. When I arrived they told me I was dilated to 6 and in labor. I immediately started crying. I was so excited to finally meet you.
I have watched you learn to hold your head up, roll over, crawl and standup on everything. You LOVE to eat and follow your big brother around. Dancing is your favorite! You are always laughing and smiling. You only cry when you are hungry or tired.
I hope you know that you are so, so loved. Your Daddy and I always promise to do our best to teach you right from wrong and keep you safe. In a crazy world full of so much evil, we promise to show you the good. I hope you always know how precious you are.
Chase Westbrooke Spears, I am so blessed to be your mommy. I thank God every day for you. I can’t wait to watch you grow.
Love you to the moon and back.
